I MUST HAVE EVERY LIPSTICK EVER PRODUCED

i have to admit that for me the most exciting part of the CUT & PASTE PROJECT i participated in with my co-workers was seeing the product of my secret envelope.  above are the images that others chose to represent my style and my friend tamieka kindly made into this adorable collage.

short hair, collared button ups, soft trousers, fresh prints, preppy flats... and of course taking pride of place is my bold lip obsession.

i think my friends and work family have my style pegged, no?

CUT & PASTE

style is such a personal thing.  personal style is, as it should be, unique to each individual person.  but is how we see our own personal style the same as how others view our style?

i used my workmates as guinea pigs for this fun little social experiment/craft project.  each person got two envelopes - a "my style" envelope for them to fill with images they thought represented their own style and a "no peeking...." envelope for others to fill with images.  when the images were collected i got the fun job of creating a good old fashioned cut & paste collage.

when the "my style" collection was put beside the collection of images chosen by others it was interesting to see both the similarities and differences.  and admittedly, it was very fun for me to channel my inner eighties child spending a saturday morning eating cereal, watching cartoons and doing cut & paste.

i had thrifted this tee a while ago but each time i went to put it on there was something so "meh" about it i would refold it and put it back in its drawer.  although i loved the colour and the design (authentic nineties puff paint, whaaaaat?) the collar was a bit tight and the sleeves an awkward length.  i knew when i bought it a makeover was in order so i finally got around to it.

using sharp scissors i cut away the entire collar "below" the seam line to make it more comfortable.  the sleeves were removed "above" the seam to prevent fraying and curling.  the bottom i left intact as i loved the shorter length of the top.

a fairly easy makeover for a fifty cent tee that i now actually wear instead of leaving in a drawer.  had it involved actual sewing, now that's another story...

she's crafty: put a frame on it

full disclosure: i originally had a very wordy and long winded post about HOW TO FRAME A SCARF.  really?  who have i become?  so i deleted it and we're moving on.

art is meant to be loved and inspirational.  mixed up, switched around and evolving.  if you find something that you like, frame it.  just use painters tape and you're laughing if you change your mind.  martha stewart, look out.
