thrift - they're not dollys, they're action figures

i feel like it's been forever since i shared a thrifting post.  the truth is i have had such AHmazing thrifty luck but i have resisted shouting about it from the rooftops because i may or may not be sharing some of it with my thrifty-gifty partner from A VERY THRIFTY CHRISTMAS GIFT SWAP hosted by the lovely ladies at LARA'S VINTAGE and THE BUSY BEE (if you haven't signed up yet there is still time!).

i've been posting little teasers of some other finds on instagram but it's more fun to share in a proper post.  so i present the wire baskets i purchased at my church bazaar last saturday.  they'll do for now until i can find a picture rail to display brian's vintage wwf wrestling dollys, er, action figures.  *eyeroll*  and then they can be repurposed a million different ways as baskets are so good at being.

THRIFT TIP: baskets are awesome and can be repurposed in endless ways.  however, when thrifting baskets, especially wooden, be sure to check for moisture molds as many have been used for plant holders.  my mother taught me that.

That is a great tip! They wooden woven or wicker baskets tend to be a bit more fragile the older they get--something I found out the hard way.

This thrift swap looks eeeenteresting.

i find they tend to start cracking from all the moist/dry/moist/dry... they just need to be handled with some care and used as decoration. in my home baskets are pretty much used to store and corral so they need to be sturdy.

lara and autumn are good people, you should definitely join the thrifty gift swap - so much fun!
Yes, great tip. I love the wire baskets - looks like they hold a ton!

they are also super lightweight but sturdy. i am so pleased with them.
Eugh you always find such neat stuff. Either Plymouth is filled with crap or people just don't donate anything decent around here!! Haha Brian plays with dolls! Erm sorry, action figures. :D

do you know how much crap i have to dig through to find a gem? keep at it and you will discover your treasures. and yeah, we have no children but a large collection of toys. authentic early 1980s wrestling figures were made seriously sturdy. =)
I am a HUGE fan of wire baskets!!! Good find!
